    contemporary chinese artists giving western audiences not actual contemporary chinese art, but rather westerners’ concept of what contemporary chinese art should be.

    Yeah, but the real question is what does contemporary Chinese art, or contemporary Asian art, suppose to look like.

    Cai’s piece “Borrowing Your Enemy’s Arrows” was first installed in the fall of 1998 at PS1, as part of the show Inside Out: New Chinese Art, organized by the Asia Society and SFMOMA. I have no idea how old Kcho’s piece is.
