Basquiat, fab 5 Freddy + Futura

The Associated Press reports that a tagged wall featuring scrawl by Futura, Fab 5 Freddy and Basquiat, dating back to the late 70s or early 80s, was recently uncovered in a SoHo loft undergoing renovations. Better news: the piece has been preserved for posterity and is currently on display at Gallery 151 on Wooster Street. (The article has a photo essay, too.)

Update (1/15/08): It may not be as historic as everyone previously thought.

    DOPE - this is how they should have reacted all along, preserve those joints!!
    I remember hearing that a Japanese guy had brought up a few whole cars back in the 80’s, and shipped them to Japan. That’s smart thinking. While local government tried everything under the sun to smash a new artform, smart people were seeing the potential in it, and investing…
