• Watch This! The Day in Architectural High Camp: A 1970s BBC doc about L.A.’s urban landscape. It’s 50 minutes long, but worth it for vintage footage of the Watts Towers, the Charles Eames Case Study house and Venice Beach, when it was still full of “drop-outs and problem people.” (Keep an eye peeled for incredible aerial shots of the bombed-out pier.) There’s even a bit with Ed Ruscha at a drive-in (channeling Jeff Spicoli), as well as shots from various Sunset Boulevard strip clubs—complete with titty—set to the tune of L.A. Woman. (Those BBC types sure were saucy!)
