  • contemporary chinese artists giving western audiences not actual contemporary chinese art, but rather westerners’ concept of what contemporary chinese art should be.

  • Yeah, but the real question is what does contemporary Chinese art, or contemporary Asian art, suppose to look like.

  • Cai’s piece “Borrowing Your Enemy’s Arrows” was first installed in the fall of 1998 at PS1, as part of the show Inside Out: New Chinese Art, organized by the Asia Society and SFMOMA. I have no idea how old Kcho’s piece is.
