SF MOMA: Now you see it.

It’s the new year, which means it’s time for a new giveaway, this one from the delightful City by the Bay. C-Monster.net roving correspondent (and younger sibling) E-Monster, picked up this spectacular piece of museo merch during an afternoon of ogling Martin Puryears at the SF MOMA. Tilt the pen to one side, and you see the museum’s underarm-deodorant form proudly displayed against the city skyline. Tilt it to the other, and the building is enveloped in fog. (If they’d managed to work in a half-naked bear in leather chaps then I seriously woulda kept this little beauty for myself.)

My fave was my double decker bus one from Victoria, BC, and Seaworld Shamu ones that would move from side to side as a kid.
Lived in Baghdad by the Bay 10 years ago. This pen would be my petite madeleine–but without the flavor, aroma or cholesterol-laden calories.
i would take this pen to class every wednesday – all day lectures – and tilt the pen to bring in the fog to amuse myself and my classmates sitting next to me whenever i wasn’t busy scribbling down notes with it. having the pen would up my standing in coolness in the eyes of my peers, i am sure.

My mom (an artist herself) collects these tilt pens from all over the world. This would make an awesome gift (Christmas was all arts-and-crafts this year, no real gifts……)

For me, this pen is a metaphor for MAN. The pen represents the cloud of suspicion with which I envelop museum officials and board members, and art critics (except myself, of course!) Tyler Green
