I don’t know how I could have missed this photo earlier.

At the Rubell Collection

Last month, I went to opening day at the Rubell Collection during Art Basel. It was a total zoo, and there was plenty of weird food on hand (which I photographed). I also photographed a million other things. And somehow I totally overlooked this photo, which I’m just re-discovering now. This was in the backyard, where the food was being served. Sitting around a tin of bacon, was a mound of latex gloves–one of which we turned into balloon art. It was not well received.

“Pageant! A Holiday of Atrocities”

Walk Dis Way

A cautionary tale for studio artists everywhere: SHRED YOUR GARBAGE.

Last year, an enterprising member of NYC’s Endless Love Crew rescued a number of original photographic test prints by Anthony Goicolea from a garbage dumpster in Brooklyn. Various members of the crew, along with a few select friends, were invited to redecorate Goicolea’s work. (Click on the photo above to view a screen-size image of my craptastic foto.)

Walk Dis Way, an Endless Love Crew remix of one of the Goicolea photos, will be on view this Saturday, November 17th and Sunday, November 18th, 2007 at Pageant! A Holiday of Atrocities, a group show at Ad Nauseum Lyceum at Studio 717 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Goicolea’s gallerist will no doubt be thrilled.

What: Pageant! A Holiday of Atrocities

When: Sat. Nov. 17th, 2007, 7 – 10pm

Where: Ad Nauseum Lyceum, 717 Manhattan Ave. @ Norman, Ste. 2A. Brooklyn, NYC.

Participating artists: Adam Parker Smith * Brent Birnbaum * Danielle Durchslag * Christopher Rose * Amy Beecher * Abel Gutierrez * The Endless Love Crew + Friends (with Anthony Goicolea) * Jake Sharbach * Tara Parsons * Alyson Perry
