In honor of Gustavo Dudamel’s impending debut at the L.A. Phil this fall, C-Monster.net marketing specialist E-Mon has secured a few Walt Disney Concert Hall trinkets for the latest giveaway extravaganza. These include: an L.A. Phil conductor’s baton, a coupla pencils and a Walt Disney Concert Hall notepad with floaty-pen.
Normally, C-Mon sticks to the visual arts for the purposes of giveaways, but since L.A. is currently gripped by a wave of Dudamania, and ‘cuz we saw the Venezuelan cutie lead a damn fine show at the Orange County Performing Arts Center (courtesy of USC/Getty) and ‘cuz we’re suckers for anybody with big curly hair, we couldn’t resist…

H is for Holy Crap. And lots of other things holy.
It’s that time again! I have a copy of illustrator Marc Johns’ newly-released book, Serious Drawings, for giveaway. Bigger bonus: The sparkling intro was written by yours truly. (Alert the Nobel committee.) Seriously though, it’s a wonderful compendium of the last few years worth of his highly whimsical illustrations. (One of my favorites here.) Leave a comment below and this baby could be yours!
Interested in buying it? Check out Marc’s blog for all the deets. And congrats to Mr. Johns for putting together a fine piece of work!

San Francisco Street Art. (Photo by C-M.)
Photographer Steve Rotman has just released a photo book devoted to all things S.F. (He’s also the author of Bay Area Graffiti.) Among the artists featured in San Francisco Street Art are perennial favorites such as Miss Van, D*Face, Doze Green, Swoon, Neckface, Ron English and Shepard Fairey — as well as some funny pieces by Thesis, Hug and Dome.

Oh, baby.
I recently spent a week in Italy with San Suzie, pillaging the local gelaterias and skulking around the American Academy in Rome. (More on that later.) But if there was one thing I was absolutely determined to do while I was there, it was pick up a pair of the above shorts, which feature the full monty belonging to none other than Michelangelo’s David. (San Suzie did a story on ‘em back in September.)
Now, lucky readers, these sausagerrific 100% polyester shorts could be hugging your privates. Leave a comment below, and before you know it, you’ll be impressing the world with your perfectly chiseled dong and rock-hard derriere.
Winner takes the shorts, but not the man inside. He’s mine — all mine.

Vandal Squad, by Joseph Rivera… photographed in my kitchen. (Photo by C-M.)
Guy works for the NYC’s Vandal Squad for twenty years. Guy writes book. To promote the book, guy even does a panel in Brooklyn with a buncha graffiti writers. That is the story of Joseph Rivera, the retired Vandal Squad cop who has just issued the above tome, from powerHouse Books, about his two-decade-long career in the unit. The text chronicles his life cracking down on graffiti, but the book’s layout, ironically, resembles a celebratory graff book: page after page of burners, masterpieces and bubble tags.
If you were feeling conflicted about spending your unemployment check on a book by a cop, then here’s your chance to lay your hands on it for free. Leave a comment below and this little puppy (complete with a photo of Rivera clutching a can of spray paint inside Scrap Yard on p. 74) could be yours!
Wholesome goodness. Except for the Twinkie. (Photo by C-M.)
The kind folks over at the Indianapolis Museum of Art were kind enough to send me a little gift pack for giveaway purposes, which includes an all-cotton Indy Museum T-Shirt (size L), a Rubik’s cube (special easy-to-solve version, courtesy of the IMA blog), as well as three super-cool mini-books — including one by David Hockney on Picasso (added to the package by my Twitter bud Richard McCoy). The package also comes with an invite to Artbabble.org, the museum’s new site dedicated to video content about art. (Right now it’s in the beta stage, so the only way to see it is to get an invite…)
Special bonus prize: Because this package was getting a little too wholesome and informative in its content, I’ve added a Twinkie, in honor of Pace Wildenstein’s Twinkie plate at the Armory Show, to the mix. It’s slightly deformed from having been carried around in my purse for a few days, but I can promise you that its taste, texture and chemical composition remain the same as always.

Stikmen make you happy. (Crappy photo by C-M.)
Through a trusted intermediary (my Stikman dealer), I’ve managed to secure three mini-Stikmen (each roughly 1.5 inches tall) for a giveway on da blog! The pieces are pocket-sized wood cut-outs produced by the notoriously reclusive street artist, who I understand lives somewhere in the vicinity of the Eastern seaboard.
Leave a comment below, with a valid e-mail, to sign up and these cute little guys could be yours for desk decoration or street enhancement. The giveaway is open to all. The winner will be announced next Monday.

SF MOMA: Now you see it.

Now you don’t. (Photos by C-M. Click on images to supersize.)
It’s the new year, which means it’s time for a new giveaway, this one from the delightful City by the Bay. C-Monster.net roving correspondent (and younger sibling) E-Monster, picked up this spectacular piece of museo merch during an afternoon of ogling Martin Puryears at the SF MOMA. Tilt the pen to one side, and you see the museum’s underarm-deodorant form proudly displayed against the city skyline. Tilt it to the other, and the building is enveloped in fog. (If they’d managed to work in a half-naked bear in leather chaps then I seriously woulda kept this little beauty for myself.)
Leave a comment (with valid e-mail) below to enter the drawing, and before you know it, you could be signing the back of your unemployment checks with this inspired piece of artsy plastic. As is the rule on these regional giveaways: no San Franciscans (or Oaklanders, for that matter), need apply. Estimated retail value: $4.95.
The winner will be announced Monday.

A Time It Was, by Bill Eppridge. (Photos by C-M.)
Two nights ago, as part of my oh-so-busy social calendar (which includes standing appointments at the Los Hermanos taco stand), I dropped in on former Life photojournalist Bill Eppridge’s book party for the release of A Time It Was in the East Village. In addition to consuming more than my share of wine and amazing cheese, I also managed to pick-up an extra copy of Bill’s book, which he was kind enough to sign for me. In honor of the beginning of the end of Election ‘08, I’m giving away this signed copy of a book that covers another historic election. It’s a lovely hardback tome of Bill’s photographs from Robert Kennedy’s ‘68 campaign. (See an online excerpt on Vanity Fair’s website.) The candid shots are a wonder to behold.
Leave your name (or pseudonym) in the comments and we’ll pick a winner at random next week. (Update: I understand that the book is now on back order…even more reason to sign up!)
Photos from the book party follow the jump.

The piece comes complete with a layer of New York City grime, as it was recently rescued from the exterior of a condemned building where it had been installed.
Nicknames are fine (we’ll keep your identity private, if you want), just use a working e-mail address (so we can contact you) and be sure to tell us what city you’re based in. The winner will be announced the week of June 9th.
Offer not valid if you’re a cop.
