C-Mon Giveaway Extravaganza: Tony Smith T-Shirt edition.

All Right Sculpture Nerds:

The good folks at INCCA – North America (that’s the International Network for the Conservation of Contemporary Art to you) have kindly given me a coupla Tony Smith tees for giveaway on the blog. The shirts are part of a project that the organization is spearheading to generate more Tony Smith coverage on Wikipedia (you can read all about that here).

Ordinarily, you’d have to generate articulate content about Tony to get a tee, but two lucky folks will get one for doing nothing more than leaving a semi-coherent comment below.

So get your minimalism on!!! Tees will be sent out in the size of your choice.

C-Mon Giveaway Extravaganza: LP New York City.

Hey Folks:

My latest travel tome (co-authored with the very awesome Brandon Presser and Cristian Bonetto) is now out, and it covers none other than NYC. I wrote the sections on Brooklyn, the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Central Park and Harlem. (Charles Pan-Fried Chicken, FTW!!!) It also contains what has to be the single best hotel review I’ve ever penned in my life:

Hotel Williamsburg: This hipster hotel on the fringes of Williamsburg was a work in progress at press time, and like the second Death Star in the Empire Strikes Back, not fully operational. (It opened, behind schedule, in late 2011.) It’s insufferably chic, with tiny, minimalist rooms with glass-walled bathrooms — a stunning opportunity to see your traveling companion on the pooper. There is a large pool surrounded by design-conscious loungers, a too-cool-for school vinyl library, two bars and a restaurant. Overall an attractive spot, but pricey given the less-than-convenient location.

Thank god for Lonely Planet, ‘cuz those aren’t the sort of details you can get in the luxury rags. Credit for the Star Wars joke goes to my partner-in-crime, Celso, who is always handy with a turn of phrase. In the meantime, this handy little guide (a $20 value) could be yours for F-R-E-E. Just leave a comment below.

C-Mon Giveaway Extravaganza: Graffiti Edition.

Hey Folks:

This is a good one. The kind folks at Abrams have given me five (yes, five!) copies of Jay Edlin’s Graffiti 365 for giveaway on the blog. This is a hardback doozy (it retails for $32.50), clocking in at more than 700 pages and weighing as much as a small boar. It’s an excellent compendium of graffiti and street art: an exhaustive alphabetical gathering of the movement’s players, large and small, with lots of pictures to boot.

Leave a comment below and you could be one of five very lucky people.

C-Mon Giveaway Extravaganza: Skateboarding 3-D.

Hey Folks:

I’m a little late on this giveaway (I’m behind on just about everything these days), but it doesn’t mean it won’t be worth it — especially if you’re looking for an afternoon’s worth of spectacularly stonerrific entertainment. For this edition, I have a copy of Sebastian Denz‘s Skateboarding.3D (courtesy of Prestel) — which true to its name features skateboarders doing their thing in three trippy dimensions. Comes complete with four sets of super chic 3D glasses.

Leave a comment and it could be yours.
